CLINICAL TRIALS PLANNING GRANT
Clinical trials are relatively uncommon in pediatric orthopaedics. There are many challenges involved with conducting a trial to definitively answer clinical questions of importance. Significant planning is necessary to bring investigators together to design such a trial and finalize the protocol.
POSNA is pleased to announce a new Clinical Trial Planning Grant award to provide seed funding to develop a high-quality proposal for a clinical trial in any area relevant to POSNA. The award is expected to produce a competitive multi-investigator/center grant proposal for submission to larger agencies/funders of research.
Previous experience has shown that all centers in the trial should be fully committed. The award can also be used for planning a well-done single-center trial.
The amount of the award will be up to $15,000 for one year.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The Principal Investigator or the Co-Principal Investigator must be a member of POSNA.
USE OF FUNDS
The award may be used to fund any of the elements necessary to develop the full grant proposal. These may include costs for:
- Teleconferences or meetings of the collaborating team of investigators to plan and develop the research protocol including study design, outcome measures, recruitment strategies, data collection and management, analysis, etc
- Methodologic/Statistical support or consultation
- Preparation of application/s for institutional ethics approval
- Pilot project/feasibility study in preparation for multi-center trial
- Validation of outcome measures intended for multi-center trial
The funds are not intended for:
- Institutional indirect costs
