Guided Growth for Correction of Angular Deformities

Ponseti Method for Idiopathic Clubfoot and New Method of Cast Correction for Vertical Talus Deformity

Description: This one-day tutorial will focus on the Ponseti management of clubfoot deformity as well as a new casting method for congenital vertical talus. There will be an early morning didactic session with an emphasis on bracing options for both deformities as well pearls for managing difficult clubfeet (e.g. complex idiopathic, syndromic, and neuromuscular). The participants will then observe in a pediatric foot deformity clinic demonstrating the casting procedures for both vertical talus and clubfoot. There will be a tendoachilles tenotomy performed in the clinic as well. In the afternoon there will be a hands on session with bone models and casting models for both vertical talus and clubfoot.

Description: This one day comprehensive tutorial will provide didactic lectures on the indications, results, and complications of pedicle screws for pediatric spinal deformity. An operative case will highlight the technical aspects, tips, and pearls for safe screw insertion as well as deformity correction. Time for Q & A and case review (participant) will be allotted at the end of the day.

Early Onset Scoliosis: Management Principles (Casting, Traction, Fusionless Surgery)

Description: The principles of management of early onset (< age 6) spine deformity will be presented in a series of didactic lectures and case presentations. Live demonstration of casting technique of infantile onset patients will be presented, as well as discussion of other “delaying” tactics and methods of fusionless treatment.

Update on Management of Children with Cerebral Palsy

Reconstructive Surgery for the Young Child with Hip Dysplasia

Description: The attendees will have the opportunity to participate in the interactive discussion of the natural history and surgical treatment of developmental hip dysplasia. Case presentations will be offered emphasizing both the specific indications and surgical techniques of pelvis and/or femoral reconstructive osteotomies. The Pemberton-type pelvic osteotomy will be operatively demonstrated.
